Building Electrical Infrastructure
Cammisa and Wipf has the technical skill, knowledge, and experience to design complicated electrical infrastructure for new and existing buildings. We provide complete design including lighting, power, signal, and control systems. All types of buildings including high-rise offices, health care facilities, research laboratories, and institutional facilities fall within our realm of experience. We specialize in electrical system upgrades in existing buildings where the buildings must remain in operation and fully functional during construction of the infrastructure improvements. Our designs provide the details for successful construction including phasing and temporary service arrangements as required.
An example of our work is the UCSF Health Science Instruction and Research buildings. These twin towers have a combined total of 500,000 square feet of medical research laboratories requiring the highest level of electrical service continuity. The electrical upgrade project at these buildings included the installation of new substations mounted on a structural bridge at the building roof. Existing busway risers were modified to feed down from the new substations at the roof and up from the existing substations at the basement, effectively doubling the electrical capacity of the buildings.
